Our Church Planting Residency
Planting healthy, gospel-centered churches requires intentional preparation. The Redeemer Network Church Planting Residency provides a two-year season of holistic training designed to equip future church planters for faithful, effective ministry. The residency is built around two core components:
Local Church Immersion
Residents serve within a sending church, receiving hands-on ministry experience, pastoral oversight, and opportunities to grow in character, leadership, and gifting.
Planter Cohort Collaboration
Residents participate in a collaborative cohort with other future planters, building relationships while developing key competencies through nine training units and multiple in-person gatherings.
Throughout the residency, the sending church plays the primary role in shepherding the resident’s spiritual maturity, character, and pastoral development, providing close mentorship and real ministry responsibility. At the same time, the Redeemer Network provides structured training, coaching, and collaborative learning environments that equip residents with the skills, wisdom, and competencies needed to plant and lead healthy, gospel-centered churches.
Year One | Foundations
Church planters need deep biblical convictions and a grounded identity as beloved sons of God. Year One focuses on developing a solid theological foundation for their ministry philosophies, methodology, practices, and values. We aim to help residents think critically about what the Bible calls us to in church planting to ensure they plant and pastor out of biblical convictions. Additionally, we spend time focusing on spiritual, emotional, and physical health in their lives and marriages.
Year Two | Finishing
While character and convictions are foundational to church planting, planters also need the fundamental skills to establish, lead, and shepherd a local church. During Year Two, we focus on sharpening the skills of preaching, vision development, leadership, and shepherding. Additionally, each resident goes through the Redeemer Network assessment, which focuses on identifying areas of needed growth, intending to give our planters the tools to have a healthy start in their church planting journey.
